If you have an unresponsive application or frozen finder you can use this to force it to quit without restarting your computer.

If you’re also a windows user this is just like using the Control-Alt-Delete command to get into the task manager.

This isn’t the only way to force quit applications, you can use Activity Monitor or Terminal but this is the simplest and easiest for most users.
